“침례교 신앙과 메시지(Baptist Faith and Message)는 2000년 미국 남침례교총회(The Southern Baptist Convention)이 택한 신앙고백서입니다. 이 신앙고백서는 침례교인들이 믿고 있는 핵심적인 신학적이며 교리적인 내용을 담고 있습니다. 이 신앙고백서는 침례교인들이 믿고 있는 모든 교리적이며 신학적인 내용을 담고 있지는 않지만, 침례교회가 정통적이며 복음적인 교회라는 것을 증거할 뿐 아니라, 침례교가 가지고 있는 특성을 잘 표현하고 있습니다.
오칼라한인침례교회는 미국 남침례교단에 속한 교회로써 우리의 신앙은 ‘침례교인의 신앙과 메시지’에 기초하고 있습니다.
The 'Baptist Faith and Message' is the statement of faith adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000. This document outlines the core theological and doctrinal beliefs held by Baptists. While it does not encompass every doctrinal or theological nuance embraced by Baptists, it serves as a testimony to the Baptist Church’s orthodox and evangelical nature, as well as its distinctive characteristics.

성경은 하나님께 영감 받은 사람들에 의해 쓰여진 것이며 인간에게 주신 하나님 자신에 대한 계시입니다. 성경은 하나님의 가르침을 완전하게 담고 있는 보물입니다. 성경의 저자는 하나님이시며 쓰여진 목적은 인간의 구원을 위한 것이며 그 내용에는 어떤 오류도 섞여 있지 않은 진리의 말씀입니다. 그러므로 모든 성경은 전적으로 참되며 신뢰할 수 있습니다. 성경은 하나님께서 우리를 심판하실 원리들을 드러내고 있습니다. 따라서 성경은 지금부터 세상 끝날 때까지 기독교적인 연합의 참된 중심이며 모든 인간의 행동과 신조들과 종교적 견해들을 검증할 최고의 표준이 됩니다. 모든 성경 말씀은 그리스도를 증거하고 있으며 그리스도는 하나님께서 주신 계시의 초점이 되시는 분이십니다.
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
하나님께서는 아버지로서 그분의 우주와 그분이 창조하신 것들과 인간 역사의 흐름을 그분 은혜의 목적들에 따라 통치하십니다. 하나님은 전지전능하시고 사랑과 지혜가 충만하십니다. 하나님께서는 예수 그리스도를 믿으므로 하나님의 자녀가 된 자들에게 진실로 아버지가 되십니다. 하나님께서는 모든 인간을 아버지처럼 대하십니다.
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
그리스도는 하나님의 영원한 아들이십니다. 성 육신 하실 때에, 예수 그리스도는 성령님에 의해 잉태되었으며 처녀 마리아에게서 태어나셨습니다. 예수님은 스스로 인간의 본성과 그것이 요구하는 것들과 필요들을 다 짊어지셨고 죄가 없는 상태에서 자신을 모든 인류와 완전히 동일시하시면서 하나님의 뜻을 완전하게 계시했고 그것을 실행하셨습니다. 예수님은 자신의 순종으로 하나님의 법을 영화롭게 했고 십자가에서는 대속의 죽음으로써 인간에게 죄로부터의 구속을 제공해 주셨습니다. 그분은 영광스러운 몸으로 죽은 자들로부터 부활하셨고 제자들에게 십자가에 못 박하시기 전에 그들과 함께 하셨던 바로 그분으로 나타나셨습니다. 예수님은 하늘로 올라 가셨고 지금은 하나님의 우편에서 높임을 받으십니다. 그곳에서 그분은 완전한 하나님이시면서 완전한 인간인 단 한 분의 중보자로서 계십니다. 그리고 그 중보자 안에서 하나님과 인간 사이에 화목이 이루어집니다. 예수님께서는 이 세상을 심판하시고 구원의 역사를 완성하기위해서능력과영광중에다시오실것입니다. 그분은지금도살아계시고언제나함께 하시는 주님으로 모든 믿는 이들 안에 거하고 계십니다.
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
성령님은 하나님의 영이시며 완전한 하나님이십니다. 성령님께서 옛적 거룩한 사람들을 감동하시어 성경을 쓰게 하셨습니다. 성령님께서는 성경을 조명해 주셔서 사람들로 하여금 진리를 이해할 수 있게 도와주십니다. 성령님은 그리스도를 높이십니다. 그분께서는 또한 사람들로 하여금 죄와 의와 심판에 대해 깨닫게 하십니다. 그분은 사람들을 구주께로 부르시고 거듭나게 하십니다. 그들이 거듭나는 순간에 성령님은 모든 신자를 그리스도의 몸 안으로 침례를 받게 하십니다. 성령님께서는 그리스도인의 성품을 육성시키시고 믿는 이들을 위로하시고 영적 은사들을 주셔서 그들로 하여금 그분의 교회를 통해 하나님을 섬기게 하십니다. 그분은 믿는 이를 마지막 구속의 날까지 인치십니다. 그리스도인 안에 거하시는 성령님의 임재는 하나님께서 그 믿는 이를 그리스도의 장성한 분량까지 이르도록 하실 것을 보증하시는 것입니다. 성령님께서는 믿는 이와 교회를 가르치시고 예배, 전도, 그리고 봉사를 하도록 힘을 주십니다.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

인간은 하나님의 특별한 창조물로 그분의 형상대로 지어졌습니다. 하나님께서는 남자와 여자를 창조하셨는데 그들은 하나님의 창조 세계에서 가장 뛰어난 작품이었습니다. 그러므로 남성과 여성의 구분은 하나님의 창조 안에 나타나 있는 선하심의 한 부분입니다. 태초에 인간은 무죄하였으며 창조주로부터 선택의 자유를 부여 받았습니다. 인간은 자유의지로 하나님께 죄를 짓고 인류에게 죄를 가져다 주었습니다. 사탄의 유혹으로 인간은 하나님의 명령을 거역하였고 원래의 무죄한 상태에서 타락하게 되었습니다. 이로 말미암아 그의 모든 자손은 자연스럽게 죄로 향하는 본성과 환경을 상속받고 태어나게 되었습니다. 그러므로 그들이 도덕적인 행동을 할 수 있게 되는 순간에 그들은 죄를 선택하여 범죄자가 되고 정죄 아래 놓이게됩니다. 오직하나님의 은혜만이 타락한 인간을 하나님의 거룩하신 교제 가운데 들어오게 되고 하나님 창조의 목적을 성취할 수 있게 됩니다. 인간성의 신성함은 하나님이 인간 자신의 형상대로 창조하셨다는 것과 그리스도께서 인간을 위해 돌아가셨다는 사실에서 분명히 나타납니다. 따라서 모든 족속의 모든 사람은 완전한 존엄성을 가지고 있으며 존경과 그리스도인의 사랑을 받을 가치가 있습니다.
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
A. 중생 혹은 새로운 출생이란 믿는 이들이 예수 그리스도 안에서 새로운 피조물이 되게 하시는 하나님의 은혜의 역사입니다. 중생은 죄에 대한 책망을 통해 성령님께서 일으키시는 마음의 변화이며, 죄인은 그런 성령님의 역사에 대하여 하나님을 향한 회개와 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 믿음으로 반응하게 됩니다. 회개와 믿음은 분리될 수 없는 은혜의 체험들입니다. 회개란 진정으로 죄에서 돌이켜 하나님께로 향하는 것입니다. 믿음이란 예수 그리스도를 영접하고 주님과 구세주 되시는 그분에게 전인격적인 헌신을 하는 것입니다.
A. Regeneration, or the new birth, Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God’s grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior.
B. 칭의는 회개하고 그리스도를 믿는 모든 죄인에 대하여 그분의 의로움이라는 원리에 근거해서 주시는 하나님의 은혜로우시고 완전하신 죄의 용서입니다. 칭의는 믿는 자를 하나님과 화평하고 그분의 호의를 얻게 되는 관계로 들어가게 합니다.
B. Justification is God’s gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer unto a relationship of peace and favor with God.
C. 성화는 중생에서 시작되는 경험으로 이를 통해 믿는 이가 하나님의 목적들을 위해 따로 구별되어집니다. 그리고 성화는 믿는 이가 자신 안에 거하시는 성령님의 임재와 능력을 통하여 도덕적그리고영적인성숙을향해전진하도록도와줍니다.은혜가운데성장하는일은 중생한 사람의 평생 계속되어야 합니다.
C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God’s purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue throughout the regenerate person’s life.
D. 영화는 구원의 완성이며 구속된 자들의 최종적인 축복과 영원한 상태입니다.
D. Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed.

Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

The first day of the week is the Lord’s Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord’s Day should be commensurate with the Christian’s conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

하나님의 나라는 우주에 대한 그분의 일반적인 주권과 그분을 기꺼이 왕으로 인정하는 사람들에 대한 그분의 특별한 왕권을 포함합니다. 특별히 하나님 나라는 예수 그리스도께 신뢰로 가득 차고 어린아이와 같은 순수함으로 헌신함으로써 사람들이 경험하게 되는 구원의 영역입니다. 그리스도인들은 하나님 나라가 임하고 하나님의 뜻이 땅에서 이루어지도록 기도하고 일해야 합니다. 하나님 나라의 완전한 성취는 예수 그리스도의 재림과 이 세대의 종말에서야 이루어질 것입니다.
The Kingdom of God includes both His general sovereignty over the universe and His particular kingship over men who willfully acknowledge Him as King. Particularly the Kingdom is the realm of salvation into which men enter by trustful, childlike commitment to Jesus Christ. Christians ought to pray and to labor that the Kingdom may come and God’s will be done on earth. The full consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of Jesus Christ and the end of this age.

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man’s spirit by God’s Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness undergirded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

기독교는 계몽과 지성의 신앙입니다. 예수 그리스도 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 들어 있습니다. 그러므로 모든 건전한 가르침은 우리 기독교 유산의 일부분입니다. 중생(거듭남)은 모든 인간의 기능들을 새롭게 함으로 지식에 대한 갈망을 만들어 냅니다. 더욱이 그리스도의 왕국에서는 교육의 목적이 선교와 일반적 선행의 목적들과 동등하며 교육은 교회들의 넘치는 후원을 받아야 합니다. 적절한 기독교 교육 제도는 그리스도의 백성을 위한 온전한 영적 프로그램에 필요한 것입니다. 기독교 교육에는 학문의 자유와 학문적 책임 사이에 적절한 균형이 있어야 합니다. 인간 삶의 어떤 질서정연한 관계에서도 자유는 언제나 제한되어 있고 절대적이지 않습니다. 기독교 학교, 대학교, 그리고 신학교에서 교사의 자유는 예수 그리스도의 탁월하심과 성경 말씀의 권위 있는 본질과 학교가 존재하는 뚜렷한 목적에 의해 제한되어 있습니다.
Christianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence. In Jesus Christ abide all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. The new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge. Moreover, the cause of education in the Kingdom of Christ is co-ordinate with the causes of missions and general benevolence, and should receive along with these the liberal support of the churches. An adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for Christ’s people. In Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. Freedom in any orderly relationship of human life is always limited and never absolute. The freedom of a teacher in a Christian school, college, or seminary is limited by the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ, by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures, and by the distinct purpose for which the school exists.

하나님께서는 세상의 것과 영적인 모든 축복의 근원이십니다. 그러므로 우리가 가진 모든 것과 우리의 우리 됨은 하나님의 은혜 덕분입니다. 그리스도인은 온 세상에 대해서는 영적으로 빚진 자이며, 복음의 거룩한 위탁자이며, 그들의 소유물에는 반드시 책임을 져야 할 청지기입니다. 그러므로 그들은 자신들의 시간과 재능과 재물을 가지고 하나님을 섬겨야 할 의무가 있으며 그런 모든 것들을 하나님의 영광과 다른 이들을 돕기 위해 사용하도록 그들에게 위탁된 것임을 깨달아야 합니다. 성경에 따르면, 그리스도인들은 구속자이신 주님의 사역을 이 땅에 추진하기 위하여 그들의 재물을 기쁨으로, 정기적으로, 체계적으로, 수입에 비례하여 그리고 아낌없이 바쳐야 합니다.
God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a spiritual debtorship to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the gospel, and a binding stewardship in their possessions. They are therefore under obligation to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions; and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others. According to the Scriptures, Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately, and liberally for the advancement of the Redeemer’s cause on earth.

그리스도의 백성은 경우에 따라 하나님 나라의 위대한 목적들을 이루기 위해 가장 잘 협력할 수 있도록 지방회 또는 총회를 조직해야 합니다. 그러한 기관들은 서로 다른 기관에 대해서 혹은 지역 교회에 대하여 권위를 행사할 수 없습니다. 그러한 기관들은 우리 침례교인들의 능력을 가장 효과적인 방법으로 끌어내고, 연합하고, 인도하기 위하여 설계된 자발적인 자문 단체들입니다. 신약교회의 회원들은 그리스도의 왕국을 확장하기 위하여 선교적, 교육적, 그리고 자선 사역들을 펼쳐 나가는 데 있어서 서로 협력해야 합니다. 신약 성경적 의미에서 그리스도인 연합이란 공동의 목적들을 이루기 위해 다양한 그리스도의 백성의 모임들에 의해 이루어지는 영적 화합과 자발적인 협력을 의미합니다. 성취하고자 하는 목적 그 자체가 정당한 것이며 교단 간의 협력이 양심에 어긋나지 않거나 그리스도와 신약성경에 계시가 된 그분의 말씀에 대한 충성을 타협하지 않을 때는 여러 다른 기독교 교단 간의 협력은 바람직한 것입니다.
Christ’s people should, as occasion requires, organize such associations and conventions as may best secure cooperation for the great objects of the Kingdom of God. Such organizations have no authority over one another or over the churches. They are voluntary and advisory bodies designed to elicit, combine, and direct the energies of our people in the most effective manner. Members of New Testament churches should cooperate with one another in carrying forward the missionary, educational, and benevolent ministries for the extension of Christ’s Kingdom. Christian unity in the New Testament sense is spiritual harmony and voluntary cooperation for common ends by various groups of Christ’s people. Cooperation is desirable between the various Christian denominations, when the end to be attained is itself justified, and when such cooperation involves no violation of conscience or compromise of loyalty to Christ and His Word as revealed in the New Testament.

모든 그리스도인은 우리 자신들의 삶과 사회에서 그리스도의 뜻이 가장 우선으로 이루어지기를 추구해야 할 의무가 있습니다. 사회의 발전과 인간들 사이에서의 의의 증진을 위해서 사용되는 수단과 방법들은 이런 것들이 예수 그리스도 안에서 하나님이 주시는 구원의 은혜로 말미암은 개인의중생에뿌리를내릴때에야만참으로영구적인도움이될수있습니다. 마음에따라 그리스도인들은 인종차별주의, 모든 형태의 탐욕, 이기주의, 악 그리고 간음과 동성애와 외설문학을 포함한 모든 형태의 성적 부도덕에 반대하여야 합니다. 우리는 고아들, 빈곤한 자들, 학대 받는 자들, 노인들, 몸이 부자유한 자들과 병든 자들의 필요를 공급하도록 힘써야 합니다. 우리는 아직 출생하지 않은 자들을 대신하여 말해야 하고 잉태에서부터 자연사에 이르는 모든 인간 생명의 존엄성을 주장해야 합니다. 모든 그리스도인은 산업, 정부, 그리고 사회 전체가 의와 진리와 형제애라는 원칙들의 지배를 받도록 추구해야 합니다. 이러한 목적들을 증진하기 위하여 그리스도인들은 어떤 선한 일에서 선의를 가진 모든 사람과 함께 일할 준비가 되어 있어야 하며 그리스도와 그분의 진리에 대한 자신들의 충성을 타협하지 않은 채 사랑의 영 안에서 행동하도록 언제나 주의하여야 합니다.
All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. Means and methods used for the improvement of society and the establishment of righteousness among men can be truly and permanently helpful only when they are rooted in the regeneration of the individual by the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. We should speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Every Christian should seek to bring industry, government, and society as a whole under the sway of the principles of righteousness, truth, and brotherly love. In order to promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth.

의로움의 원칙들에 근거해 모든 사람과 함께 평화를 추구하는 일은 그리스도인들의 의무입니다. 그리스도의 정신과 가르침들에 따라 그리스도인들은 전쟁을 종식하기 위해 모든 노력을 다해야 합니다. 호전적인 영에 대한 참된 치료책은 우리 주님의 복음입니다. 이 세상이 가장 필요한 것은 사람들과 국가들의 모든 문제에서 그리스도의 가르침들을 받아들이는 것이며 그분의 사랑의 법칙을 실제로 적용하는 것입니다. 전 세계에 있는 모든 그리스도인은 평화의 왕께서 통치하시도록 기도해야 합니다.
It is the duty of Christians to seek peace with all men on principles of righteousness. In accordance with the spirit and teachings of Christ they should do all in their power to put an end to war. The true remedy for the war spirit is the gospel of our Lord. The supreme need of the world is the acceptance of His teachings in all the affairs of men and nations, and the practical application of His law of love. Christian people throughout the world should pray for the reign of the Prince of Peace.

하나님만이 양심의 주인이 되시고, 하나님께서는 그의 말씀에 반대되거나 그 말씀 속에 포함되어 있지 않은 인간의 교리들과 명령들로부터 양심을 자유롭게 하였습니다. 교회와 국가는 분리되어야 합니다. 국가는 모든 교회가 자신들의 영적 목적들을 추구하는 데 있어서 그들을 보호하고 완전한 자유를 주어야 합니다. 그러한 자유를 부여하는 데 있어서 어떤 특정한 교회적인 단체나 교단도 국가로부터 다른 단체나 교단보다 더 특혜를 받아서는 안 됩니다. 시민 정부는 하나님께로부터 임명된 것이므로 그리스도인들은 하나님의 뜻에 어긋나지 않는 모든 일에서는 충성스럽게 순종해야 할 의무가 있습니다. 교회는 교회 일을 시행할 때 공권력에 의지해서는 안 됩니다. 그리스도의 복음은 그 목적들을 추구하는 데 있어서 오직 영적인 방법만을 고려합니다. 국가는 어떤 종류의 종교적 의견들에 대해서는 처벌을 내릴 권한이 없습니다. 국가는 어떤 특정 형태의 종교를 지원하기 위한 세금을 부과할 권리가 없습니다. 자유로운 국가 안에 있는 자유로운 교회가 기독교적 이상입니다. 이것은 모든 인간이 자유롭게 그리고 아무런 제약 없이 하나님께 나아갈 수 있는 권리와 공권력의 간섭 없이 종교의 영역 안에서 견해들을 형성하고 전파할 수 있는 권리를 가지고 있다는 것을 의미합니다.
God alone is Lord of the conscience, and He has left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men which are contrary to His Word or not contained in it. Church and state should be separate. The state owes to every church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. In providing for such freedom no ecclesiastical group or denomination should be favored by the state more than others. Civil government being ordained of God, it is the duty of Christians to render loyal obedience thereto in all things not contrary to the revealed will of God. The church should not resort to the civil power to carry on its work. The gospel of Christ contemplates spiritual means alone for the pursuit of its ends. The state has no right to impose penalties for religious opinions of any kind. The state has no right to impose taxes for the support of any form of religion. A free church in a free state is the Christian ideal, and this implies the right of free and unhindered access to God on the part of all men, and the right to form and propagate opinions in the sphere of religion without interference by the civil power.

하나님께서 가정을 인간사회의 근본적인 제도로 제정하셨습니다. 가정은 결혼, 혈연, 또는 입양에 의해 서로 관계를 맺은 사람들로 구성됩니다.
결혼이란 한 남자와 한 여자가 평생 서로에게 헌신하겠다는 서약을 통해 연합하는 것입니다. 결혼은 그리스도와 그의 교회 간의 연합을 계시하기 위한 그리고 결혼 관계에 있는 남녀에게 친밀한 사귐의 틀과 성서적 기준에 따른 성적 표현의 통로와 그리고 인류 보존의 수단을 제공하기 위한 하나님의 유일한 선물입니다.
남편과 아내는 하나님 앞에서 동등한 가치를 지닙니다. 왜냐하면, 그들 모두 하나님의 형상으로 창조되었기 때문입니다. 결혼관계는 하나님이 그분의 백성과 관계를 맺는 방식을 모델로 합니다. 남편은 아내 사랑하기를 그리스도께서 교회를 사랑하신 것같이 해야 합니다. 남편은 자기 가정의 필요를 공급하고 보호하고 인도할, 하나님께 부여 받은 책임이 있습니다. 아내는 그 자신을 그녀의 남편이 가지고 있는 섬김의 리더십에 감사하며 순종해야 하는데 마치 교회가 그리스도의 주권에 기꺼이 순종하는 것처럼 하는 것입니다. 남편과 똑같이 하나님의 형상으로 지어졌으므로 그와 동등한 아내는 자신의 남편을 존경하고 가정을 돌보는 것과 다음 세대를 양육하는 데 있어서 남편의 돕는 배필로서 섬겨야 할 하나님께로 부여 받은 책임이 있습니다.
자녀는 임신하는 순간부터 주님께서 주신 하나의 축복이며 유산입니다. 부모님은 그들의 자녀들에게 결혼을 향한 하나님의 모본을 보여 주어야만 합니다. 부모님은 자녀들에게 영적, 도덕적 가치를 가르쳐야 하며 자녀로 하여금 일관된 삶의 본보기와 사랑의 훈육을 통해 성서적인 진리에 근거한 선택들을 하도록 인도해야 합니다. 자녀는 자신들의 부모님을 공경하고 순종해야 합니다.
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.
Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God’s pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.
